Der Kirschgarten

Oskar Joe Fabritz

The Cherry Orchard is a play by the Russian writer Anton Chekhov which deals with the downfall of the Russian aristocracy. Written in 1903, it simultaneously relates to the themes of serfdom at that time and still current problems of a society between rich and poor. In the story, no one seems to accept their own downfall, which leads to its inevitability.
The comic combines analog drawing with pen and ink and digital coloring in the art form of comics and the beautiful technique of risoprinting.

Over the course of my studies, I explored the art form of comics in various modules. The visual retelling of literary classics has grown particularly close to my heart. In general, the visualization of information and the sequential narration in pictures. For the right feeling of reality and haptics it is important to me to always keep a part of my work analog.
