The pleasure of looking

Victoria Mayr

Victoria Mayr's documentary photo series THE PLEASURE OF LOOKING addresses the artist's relationship to her body—a relationship characterized by diverse feelings and emotions, by femininity and sensitivity, by beauty and cruelty.
The city the artist lives in allows her to be who she is, but ciritical questions remain: Who am I and what makes me who I am? How do I see my body and am I satisfied?
The photo series aims to depict the inner conflicts involved, to show the pain and the physical and mental flaws, but also the determination to deal with the situation. The artist takes control of her body and presents it the way she wants it to look like, letting her feelings run free.
