The project ALL THAT LIES BELOW is a pixel art adventure mining game. The player gets to step into the shoes of John, who—in a desperate attempt to pay the family’s debt—sets out on a journey to discover riches deep underground.

Where do you see yourself in 20 years?

Somewhere nice, doing something I enjoy with people I like while being 20 years older than now.

What is a good design for you?

Good design is when one is aware of every decision.
Good design is not always intentional, often the best design is something you stumble upon.
Good design is about the execution, not the idea.

What was the most challenging experience during your studies?

Since game development is a team sport, collaboration is always fruitful and inspiring, yet challenging.

Who or what inspires you?

Talking to friends and other people about nearly anything; not being able to sleep.

How do you approach a new project?

I start my projects by thinking for a long time and then jumping all in.

What advice would you give to students who just started studying in your programme?

Playing games is not making them, so start making them. It's the most effective way to learn.

Have you changed during your studies? How?

Receding hairline, one additional pullover, no new shoes though.

Why did you choose to study in your programme?

What makes more sense than making games?

What are you not going to miss in your studies?

This is not the school you attend for its condition of the restrooms, or the lack of game design computer labs with their constantly broken windows, but to spend some time and learn from and with some nice students, lecturers and professors.
