Aliena Lein YouTube Blog

Alena Ivanova

We live in a beautiful world, but unfortunately, we do not always appreciate what we have. To Alena Ivanova, it is very important to live consciously and to share these thoughts with other people. This why in her final project, she created a lifestyle YouTube video blog, focussing on the beauty of life, promoting eco-friendly and simple living. The blog portrays a conscious attitude to life, to oneself, and to the environment. The goal of this blog is not judging people and telling people how they are wrong, but rather lies in showing how you can appreciate the beauty of even the most ordinary things. Simply, it is about living in harmony with oneself and the environment. The rhythm of videos is aimed to be soothing, almost like a meditation. When people watch a video, they can relax, unconsciously taking in the information and ultimately pay more attention to details in their own lives.

Alena Ivanova

My name is Alena. I’m a dreamer and also a communication designer and illustrator, currently based in Berlin. I was always a creator, because to create something for me is like breathing. I’m inspired by everyday life and the world around me. My works are as versatile as my personality. I like colours and brightness as well as calmness and simplicity. I explore the world and as George Brecht said, “The whole universe interests me.”

Where do you see yourself in 20 years?

Enjoying life and learning something new.

What is a good design for you?

I realized that good design is not just a beautiful picture that comes from nowhere, but a well thought-out work filled with a lot of meanings.

What was the most challenging experience during your studies?

Explain my ideas and make people understand what I mean.

Who or what inspires you?

Anna Lomakina, Anton Lapenko, Armin van Buuren, Audrie Storme, Baugasm, Ekaterina Shulman, Elle Fanning, Elon Musk, Gesaffelstein, Hayao Miyazaki, Jonna Jinton, Kirill Serebrennikov, Li Ziqi, overthesea, Pavel Bazhov, Reese Witherspoon, SQÜRL, The Beatles, The Sorry Girls

How do you approach a new project?

For me, the main thing is to divide the task into steps and move forward gradually. First of all – a good research on the topic, search for different materials in that field, search for inspiration and creation of a right mood.

What advice would you give to students who just started studying in your programme?

Take classes from other programmes of study, too. It can open up potential for you that you never thought of before.

Have you changed during your studies? How?

A lot. I believe I became more confident in myself and my abilities. University taught me the ability to think and the ability to learn. I learned to develop my ideas and implement them step by step, and also not to be afraid that I do not know how to do something, because now I know how to learn. If earlier I thought that there are things that I cannot do, now I think that any task is within my power.

Why did you choose to study in your programme?

I wanted to study to be a designer in Berlin :)

What are you not going to miss in your studies?

Classes at 9:00.

How are you going to celebrate your graduation?

I guess, virtually.

Say hi!
