On the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the Wadden Sea’s designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the departments of Art & Design, Business & Sport, and Health & Psychology of the University of Europe for Applied Sciences (UE) launched an interdisciplinary flagship project culminating in an exhibition and a book launch that invites visitors to discover the fascinating landscape and fragile ecosystem of the Wadden Sea through new photographic and artistic viewpoints.
As part of the Student Photographers at Borkum series, UE Archive presents a curated selection of works by 15 students who participated in the AM WATT project.
Borkum in Dialog
When does one end and the other begin? What kind of dialogue takes place between the two? Is it meant to last, or is it fleeting? These questions lie at the heart of the photographic series BORKUM IN DIALOG, which explores the intersection between natural landscapes and human-made structures on the island of Borkum.
The images offer a reflective view of these interactions, questioning how lasting or transient the relationship between man and nature truly is. Are human-made structures eventually reclaimed by nature, or do they leave a permanent mark on the landscape? The series invites viewers to contemplate the durability of human influence and the resilience of nature in the face of it.
