On the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the Wadden Sea’s designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the departments of Art & Design, Business & Sport, and Health & Psychology of the University of Europe for Applied Sciences (UE) launched an interdisciplinary flagship project culminating in an exhibition and a book launch that invites visitors to discover the fascinating landscape and fragile ecosystem of the Wadden Sea through new photographic and artistic viewpoints.
As part of the Student Photographers at Borkum series, UE Archive presents a curated selection of works by 15 students who participated in the AM WATT project.
Strolling Thoughts – Philosophical Reflections in Borkum
The photographic series STROLLING THOUGHTS – PHILOSOPHICAL REFLECTIONS IN BORKUM explores the contrast between the fastpaced, often overwhelming life of modern society and the tranquil, enduring presence of nature. On one side, there is the quiet, structured life of the town; on the other, the vast, endless sea.
Amid the constant activity of daily life, there are moments of stillness that offer a chance to pause and reflect. Whether sitting on a bench, clearing the mind, or watching small animals play at the water’s edge, nature provides an opportunity for calm and connection. Walkingbarefoot on the beach, observing marine creatures swept away by thewaves, serves as a reminder of the transient forces of nature.
