THE FAKER is an independent brand that exists in the form of an application for smartphones and a non-regular print form. The Faker mimics the main characteristics of traditional and digital media but changes them structurally. Things are supposed to be conspicuous and loud, based on the speculation about self-designed and obviously fake news.
After the first impression, the audience gets to know the mechanism behind the fake news, especially in the app, to recognize it better on other platforms and to be more critical to information in general.
The app is supported by a poster campaign. A photo campaign featuring “celebrities” reading The Faker is meant to be loud on social media. Doomscrolling and doomsurfing are supposed to be impossible. The theoretical part is the basis of the project - the poststructuralist view, speculative and critical design, reversibility principle, postirony and reflections on post-postmodernism.
