Selma Radz Rodriguez' short film MERCEDITA centers on Urbicia Mercedes, an 80-year-old woman, who ruminates on her long-lasting dedication to the Cuban Revolution. She remembers difficult and wonderful times throughout her life and provides description of her experience as a black woman in post-revolutionary Cuba and the Soviet Union.

Dealing with all the -isms that would come up.

My siblings, questions.

How do you approach a new project?

Lots of ideas end up in notebooks, the issue is always starting a project.

What advice would you give to students who just started studying in your programme?

Stand up for yourself.

Have you changed during your studies? How?

Yes, in the ways one changes through 3 years.

Why did you choose to study in your programme?

I needed to leave where I was at.

What are you not going to miss in your studies?

The location-specific frustrations.

How are you going to celebrate your graduation?

Videogames and finally starting some new books!
