New Exhibition of Sichuan Opera

Jin ZhenXiang

This project revolves around traditional Chinese art and modern graphic design. The Sichuan theatre, one of the representatives of traditional Chinese art, forms the basis of this project, traditional art elements are extracted from it and used to recreate it using modern graphic design techniques. Fonts, IP images, posters, web pages, business cards, etc were created in the process. These design works not only integrate Chinese traditional art elements well with modern graphic design, but also reflect the importance of integration, making the world more aware of Chinese traditional art, so that it can be better inherited and developed. In the future, the use of Chinese traditional art elements in the field of graphic design is also a new direction, enriching modern graphic design.

Jin ZhenXiang

I grew up learning to draw and I have always loved design. I used to draw weird things when I was a kid and I am very happy to be studying design at UE.
During my time at university I also started my own business and completed the branding of the wine packaging and put it into production.
I love the feeling of achievement that comes from designing, it's really exciting, it's like buying a piece of art that you love and you can't get enough of it.

Where do you see yourself in 20 years?

I may have my own design studio in Shanghai, China, doing design work that I love.

What is a good design for you?

For me good design is design that is loved and recognised by people and can serve society.

What was the most challenging experience during your studies?

In the first few semesters, I had a lot to live up to in terms of design, especially at the beginning in the foundation classes, where a lot of the basics took me a lot of time to learn, which was a difficult process, but I managed to overcome these difficulties.

Who or what inspires you?

My professors have helped and inspired me a lot in the field of design and I believe that design comes from life and I can get a lot of inspiration in my daily life.

How do you approach a new project?

For a new project, I start with the project itself, creating a plan, a Mood board, gathering relevant information and then identifying a topic to research and design.

What advice would you give to students who just started studying in your programme?

At the beginning, you must attend the course on time, communicate with the professor and think about the problems you encounter.

Have you changed during your studies? How?

After a few years of study, I have become more attentive, revising my designs time and time again and improving, and my ability to think more autonomously and differently has enabled me to create better designs.

Why did you choose to study in your programme?

I really like communication design and in the future I would like to become a graphic designer, I have learnt a lot about this subject.

What are you not going to miss in your studies?

I will learn more design ideas and keep innovating.

How are you going to celebrate your graduation?

I wanted to celebrate my graduation with a very meaningful graduation trip with my friends.

Say hi!
