Denk Berlin

Humberto Gesser

DENK BERLIN aims to create a new normal. The goal is to guide locals and visitors into making a more responsible decision when it comes to where to eat, or where to shop, how to commute, and where to spend their free time.
The community gathers a selection of supermarkets, restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries, fashion shops, flea markets, natural cosmetics boutiques, hotels, and nature sites – all inside of Berlin. All places pass through a sustainability assessment before being added to the guide. The criteria encourage the acceleration of sustainable development and set the pattern on what type of establishment one will find in the guide.

Humberto Gesser

I'm not a severe person nor quiet, I'm often defined as loud or the one who likes to be at the center of a discussion, after all, I'm Brazilian. A lot of people might see these characteristics as unpleasant and I might agree with them... but not really. Be bold and brave, apply that to whatever you do and you will be proud of your craft. My name is Humberto Gesser and if you are reading this I'm a communication design graduate! Cheers.

Where do you see yourself in 20 years?

Living in a better world.

What was the most challenging experience during your studies?

Those seminar papers had me hectic.

Who or what inspires you?

I'm inspired by music that has no clues, no imagery, and no lyrics – just a feeling.

What advice would you give to students who just started studying in your programme?

Start a Cinema 4D course immediately.

Have you changed during your studies? How?

I started at BTK as a transferred student from Portugal, who was previously transferred from Brazil – change has been a big part of my education, and I believe I've changed to a better me who is more aware of my surroundings and my impact on the world we live in. The city of Berlin and its progressive thinking also shaped me a lot in the past years since I moved here.

Why did you choose to study in your programme?

I like art, I like drawing, and I like creating images, but I never wanted to be an artist because I know I need some kind of framework that I can follow and apply my creativity to.

What are you not going to miss in your studies?

Classmates that think it's acceptable to keep their cameras off during an online class. Also Miro.

How are you going to celebrate your graduation?

Gin & tonic.

Say hi!
