On the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the Wadden Sea’s designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the departments of Art & Design, Business & Sport, and Health & Psychology of the University of Europe for Applied Sciences (UE) launched an interdisciplinary flagship project culminating in an exhibition and a book launch that invites visitors to discover the fascinating landscape and fragile ecosystem of the Wadden Sea through new photographic and artistic viewpoints.
As part of the Student Photographers at Borkum series, UE Archive presents a curated selection of works by 15 students who participated in the AM WATT project.
De Inselkinners seggen ‚Öy!‘
Up Borkum bi’t Watt
kannst du rieken, schmecken un
fühlen as annerswo neij.
DE INSELKINNERS SEGGEN ‚ÖY!‘ –
dat is so’n fröhlich Moin!
Up Borkum bi’t Watt,
sind Oysters in’n Sand welbekannt.
De Wattführer grient mit de Slik bis an’t Knee,
roopt höög: „Kummt mit, hier gifft dat Beifoot as noch nie!“
Up Borkum bi’t Watt,
do sind Swien un Schaap tau Huus,
un de Queller singt sacht sien salzigen Reim.
De Leuchtturm, he blinkt un wüft uns to,
he flüstert: „Hier op Borkum, do hest du dien Ruh.“
Een Paradies bi’t Meer, so lebendig un bunt,
op Borkum toleven, dat hollt wirklick gesund.
