Believable Atmosphere Through AI Enemy Behaviour in Video Games With Sneak Component

Christian Katz

Based on the game BLOODLINE- THE LAST HEIR, Christian Katz developed an enemy AI that creates a believable atmosphere through its behavior in a sneak environment. For this purpose, the perceptions and awareness of the AI were implemented, based on the role of the enemies and on the frustration level of the player, in order to breathe life into the characters and to provide enjoyable gameplay at the same time. The project was created in the Unity engine and programmed using C#.

Christian Katz

He is an ambitious and motivated person, who recently decided to transition from Game Programming to 3D Environment Art. His love for it has replaced programming, which he had been focusing on for the past few semesters. He wants to create 3D environments associated with myths, legends, sagas and fables that convey extraordinary feelings, appearances and expressions.

Besides his career, he deals a lot with strength endurance sports, martial arts and personality development. This keeps him mentally strong and physically fit, so he has a clear and focused mind to make the most of his life.

Where do you see yourself in 20 years?

I see myself in a position as an Art Director or CEO to create unique fantasy worlds with people who have an emotional and unique connection to environments and fantasy.

What is a good design for you?

If it was created with love and zeal of the artist, which would be evident in the unique individual elements.

What was the most challenging experience during your studies?

Writing scientific papers, because I never enjoyed writing and it was not easy for me to meet the scientific requirements.

Who or what inspires you?

I am inspired and fascinated by myths, legends, sagas, fables and fantasy worlds. I love the unlimited creativity that is in them, which creates unique environments with an extraordinary story.

How do you approach a new project?

I start by defining the goal of the project to know the direction. Then I research how to get there and what steps I need to take.

What advice would you give to students who just started studying in your programme?

Try many areas in the industry to find out where you can put all your love in. Nothing is more destructive than not knowing what you love and what you want to achieve. There will always be obstacles, but if you fight through it and have your why, you will find happiness and peace in the end.

Have you changed during your studies? How?

I worked on myself. The experiences during my studies gave me a different perspective in life and goals that I wanted to achieve. I am now a more confident person, who has found his purpose in life and knows what direction he wants to go. Thank you for the great years UE.

Why did you choose to study in your programme?

I've always wanted to create fantasy worlds, where I can be creative without limits and build everything I want.

What are you not going to miss in your studies?

Writing scientific papers. I want to create digital environments and not spend days or weeks writing and researching for them.

How are you going to celebrate your graduation?

Taking a few days off, getting some rest and doing activities that I couldn't do during the bachelor's final phase.

Say hi!
