I like the idea of being multiple things at once

In media, women are often portrayed as either a Madonna - a passive, asexual wife/mother type, or a Whore - a sexually promiscuous and desired woman, but not “good enough” to marry. In the zine I LIKE THE IDEA OF MULTIPLE THINGS AT ONCE, Astrid Wille explores this topic and how the Madonna-Whore Complex is present in six different kinds of media; Religion, art, moving images, music, press, and social media. The zine paints a picture of how ingrained the dichotomy is in our societal views on women, while also presenting examples of how media can work against the limiting roles and create modern portrayals of women as multidimensional beings who aren’t defined by their sexual status.
