What is home? How is home defined?

Documenting her work with refugees in a trauma prevention program, Tilia Dahlke's project HEI|MAT is dealing with being a refugee or migrant in Berlin and examining the topic of making a new place a home.

Where do you see yourself in 20 years?

I see myself working in the mediafield, where exactly that will be is not sure yet. I am excited to see though. What I know for a fact is, that I will be working with people

What was the most challenging experience during your studies?

organizing myself and thinking "out of the box"

Who or what inspires you?

Aida Muluneh and Frida Kahlo inspire me, also Zanele Muholi

How do you approach a new project?

Brainstorming and researching, trying to find alternative perspectives besides my own to challenge myself

What advice would you give to students who just started studying in your programme?

believe in yourself and as long as you stand behind what you do, it does not matter what anyone else thinks, at the end of the day you want to be your moth authentic self in every way

Have you changed during your studies? How?

I grew more confident and learnt to see things fro different perspectives

Why did you choose to study in your programme?

because I have always wanted to do photography

How are you going to celebrate your graduation?

with a big bottle of champagne and all my loved ones who supported me during my studies
