Bloodline - The Last Heir
Art Styles and their Correlation with Animations

Franziska Schümann

BLOODLINE – THE LAST HEIR is a stealth game that combines sneak mechanics with minimal jump & run elements. Players take on the role of a young heir to the throne in medieval Britain, desperately trying to escape from a besieged castle.

As the artist of a 3-person team, Franziska Schümann was responsible for the visuals of the game. She focused on art styles and their correlation with animations to create believable and authentic characters.

Growing up with a pencil in one hand and a controller in the other my destiny was sealed early on to work as an artist in games. Although my hands are limited to two, my curiosity to learn new things is not. I learned to program websites and games, dabbled in game and sound design and fell in love with 3D modeling which is now my main focus.

Being able to create this specific something that can't be achieved by plainly following the "rules".

Nothing comes close to the tremendous stress that I had with the seminar papers.

What advice would you give to students who just started studying in your programme?

You will probably underestimate the amount of work you will need for your game. Every time. Plan well, don't crunch.

How are you going to celebrate your graduation?

Eat Chinese food.

Say hi!
